Poe's Amazing Ways

Edgar Allen Poe is definitely the way to go when you are thriving to read a horror. His use of imagery, fear, mysterious pasts, sick characters, and unclear endings all give us a sense of wonder. We wonder how a story can be so scary good. It is very different from others, I may say. His unique, yet enjoying horror stories give the readers a sense of gothic, dark feelings that not everyone could portray as successfully as Poe. Now a day, Poe’s readings are an amazing entertainment. When using imagery, Poe has an amazing way of making us visualize his crazy thoughts. The use of figurative language in his horrors makes it extremely interesting to picture what is happening. Poe’s use of fear is another way he caught his reader’s eye. When using fear, it gets people’s attention within a second! No matter how scary and dark they might be, they always seem to make a fantastic story. Who doesn’t love their heart beating 300 beats a minute? In addition, Poe uses crazy, sick characters. For example Usher was a severely ill human being who owned haunted house. WOW! Owning a haunted house? Pretty sick! The whole time I was reading Poe’s Fall of the House of Usher, that was definitely in the back of my mind the whole time. Edgar Allen Poe is the king of giving his readers the worst endings. It makes the story so suspenseful because the whole time we are thinking about what is going happen, and then the endings are still out in the air. It makes his readers wish there was more to the story than there actually was. Finally, Poe’s fantasized; mysterious pasts make the stories as amazing as they are. Without the characters having the twisted pasts they do, the stories sense of darkness would not be as effective. In conclusion, Poe’s use of imagery, fear, mysterious pasts, sick characters and hanging endings make the stories unbelievably entertaining. His readers are always looking for more because of these wonderful characteristics that make Poe who he is; an amazing horror author.
